I go into sessions with two-year-olds focussed on two things: 1) My well thought out plan for the session 2) The expectation that anything can happen. After talking to Sam’s mom about what she wanted for his two year session, I came up with a plan for some simple, classic portraits, holiday themed photos because we shot this session in late November, and a fun aviation themed set.
When Sam arrived, I had the first set ready which was a beautiful swing I love to use for this age. He would not have it. Moving on, I set up the aviation themed set and he would NOT have the cute aviation hat I had for him. No problem! Sam was running the show, just like all two year olds do. As a child photographer, I love this, honestly! It’s so fun and the best kind of challenging to chase around and try to hold the attention of a toddler, especially one as sweet and adorable as this guy.
I started photographing Sam when he was seven months old and I couldn’t be happier when I see an email from his mom pop up in my inbox. Spending time with these two is really the best!
