I absolutely love photographing a family for both their maternity and newborn photos. It’s so exciting to meet parents in the month or so before their little one arrives. Then to see them and their new little love in the days after their baby is born is a complete privilege.
I shot Sarah and Chris’ maternity session at the beautiful Nagetuck Farms in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Perfect weather and beautiful light made for an ideal evening shoot. Sarah brought along a beautiful sash and banner she made herself. I’m jealous of her talent!
Be sure to scroll all the way down to see the photos from their newborn session! The newborn session was shot in my new natural light studio (insert squeal of excitement!) shortly after Ella’s arrival. New mom Sarah brought along a few personal items to incorporate into the session. First, I’d asked her to bring her wedding gown for a shot I’ve had floating around in my head for some time now. She also brought dad’s work equipment for an extra special photo for him. And, finally, she brought a beautiful quilt made from the shirts of her late grandfather. One of the sections of the quilt had a pocket with his photo in it.
I have seen many mom’s tear up during newborn sessions– it actually makes me the happiest, like I’m doing my job right! However, this is the first time I myself have been brought to tears at the sight of a little one all posed and set up. It was really something special and I’m so honored I got to capture it for this beautiful family.
